📚Library Rules & Guidelines Updated: Summary of Changes

Library Rules & Guidelines Updated

👋 Effective in the 114th Academic Year! Please note the adjustments to the reading and borrowing rules.
This summary will help you quickly grasp the key changes.
Thank you for your cooperation in maintaining a comfortable reading environment!

Borrowing Limits Enhanced

Dedicated Faculty / Researchers / Graduate Students

Limit increased: 80 Items

Reservation limits have also been increased. Please refer to the Summary of Borrowing Rights

For detailed borrowing privileges, please refer to the Library Book and Material Borrowing Rules

Renewal Policy Eased!

No longer limited to 7 days before the due date!

You may renew online anytime as long as the item has not been reserved by another user and is not overdue.

*Unlimited renewals: Each successful renewal recalculates the loan period starting from the renewal date, up to the maximum permitted loan term.

If an Item is Reserved

If an item is reserved by others, the loan period will be shortened:

  • Dedicated Faculty / Researchers 30 days
  • Other Patrons 14 days
* The system will issue a recall notice. Please ensure the item is returned on time to avoid affecting your borrowing privileges and incurring overdue fines.

Account and Reminders

Proactively Manage Your Rights

We recommend that you regularly log into your library account to check your borrowing status. This helps safeguard your borrowing privileges and prevent suspension or overdue fines due to late returns.

Utilize Notifications

The system sends notifications via email. Please ensure that your email address is correct so you don’t miss important alerts. Emails serve as reminders only; the system records shall prevail.

ID Cards & Proxy

Personal ID Exclusive Use

Your ID card is for personal use only and must be kept safe. Borrowing, lending, or exchanging cards is a violation. Please avoid this offense.

Proxy Assistance

Books should be borrowed in person. If a proxy is needed, submit an authorization form and present your library card along with the proxy’s ID.

Environment & Order

Fair Seat Sharing

Please do not reserve seats in reading and study areas. If you leave your seat for more than 30 minutes, remember to take your belongings with you and leave the seat for those who need it.

Quality Space

No food, drink, or pets are allowed in the library. If you trigger the alarm upon exit, please cooperate with staff inspection.

Lockers are for temporary use during your visit. Please remove all items before leaving; unclaimed items will be discarded.

Valuing Collections & Compensation

Principle

Replacement (identical or newer edition) should be prioritized for lost items. Cash compensation is available only if replacement is not possible.

Calculation
Cash Compensation:
(List Price × Price Index) × 2
The 2× rate discourages prolonged use. Please use resources responsibly to ensure sustainable sharing.

Violations & Consequences

Campus Patrons Safeguard the Environment

3 Violation Points = Privileges Suspended

To maintain the environment, accumulating the maximum points will result in suspension of entry, borrowing, and space usage rights for 3 months.

External Visitors Respect Library Rules

3 Violation Points = Entry Denied

NSYSU Library welcomes you, but please comply with regulations. Severe violations will result in a permanent ban.

This announcement summarizes relevant library regulations. For the complete articles, please refer to the NSYSU Library’s "Reading Regulations," "Regulations for the Borrowing of Library Materials," and Library Patron Conduct Violation Regulations.”
